Background of the Study
Gusau Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara State has faced numerous challenges related to insecurity, political instability, and inter-community conflict, particularly in the context of regional peacebuilding efforts. Geopolitical strategies, both local and national, play a crucial role in addressing these issues by promoting peace and fostering cooperative relationships among conflicting groups. Gusau's involvement in regional peace strategies, aimed at resolving the issues arising from banditry, religious tensions, and economic disparities, has highlighted the importance of a well-coordinated geopolitical approach (Ali & Sani, 2023). This study explores how geopolitical strategies—through political alliances, military presence, and peace agreements—impact the enhancement of regional peace in Gusau LGA and, by extension, the broader region of Zamfara State.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Gusau LGA has struggled with significant peace and security challenges, largely due to complex geopolitical dynamics including ethnic conflicts, the rise of insurgency, and regional power struggles. Despite various peace initiatives by both local and state governments, the region continues to face insecurity. This study seeks to examine the effectiveness of the geopolitical strategies employed to enhance peace and regional stability in Gusau LGA.

1.6 Significance of the Study
This study will contribute to understanding the role of geopolitical strategies in promoting regional peace and stability, particularly in conflict-prone areas like Gusau LGA. It will offer policy recommendations for local, state, and federal governments to improve peace initiatives, providing a roadmap for sustainable peace in the region (Ali & Sani, 2023).
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on the geopolitical strategies for peacebuilding in Gusau LGA, Zamfara State, from the past decade. Limitations include challenges in accessing firsthand data due to security concerns and restricted movement in conflict-affected areas.
